#GREEN SHIPPING SUMMIT
SESSION ONE: REDUCTIONS IN CO2 EMISSIONS AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY FOR SHIPS AND NAVIGATION
Thursday 27th June, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Acquario di Genova – Auditorium
Conference with simultaneous translation (Ita – Eng – Ita)
Transport by sea is the most energy efficient logistics system. The search for ways to reduce climate-changing gas emissions in navigation remains urgent, which is leading to the drafting of progressively restrictive regulations, while the most extreme groups aim at decarbonisation. The objectives already established are a positive stimulus for designers, motorists, shipyards and shipowners to engage in improving the efficiency of navigation and ships, as an integrated energy system that still loses most of the primary energy it consumes in a non-useful way.
The session will focus on current solutions and on the most innovative ones that can be adopted as early as the next fleet renewal cycle.
Main Topics:
- Implementing the European regulation MRV on the monitoring of energy consumption and CO2 emissions of maritime transport: first results of checking activities
- Constant monitoring for fuel consumption and / or CO2 emissions from maritime transport
- Engine and propulsion innovations (propeller, rudder, azimuth thrusters, etc.)
- Disruptive solutions (electro-hybrid propulsion, wind)
- Anti-fouling systems for highly energy efficient hulls
- Aerodynamics and hydrodynamics to reduce friction
- Optimization of routes and loads, “secret” weapons for efficiency
- Energy efficiency and cogeneration
- Information systems to support the optimal management of the energy performance of navigation
- Solutions for the energy efficiency of the logistic chain (stowage optimization systems, effects of port dredging on the increase of the naval capacity, elimination of port bottlenecks, etc.)
